Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce is established under the School of Social Sciences and Humanities with a vision of providing excellence in the fields of Commerce by imparting value based education, training and research. Since its inception, the primary aim of the department has been to make the commerce students respond to changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge. It also thrives towards creating a people-centered, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all. The motto of the department is to focus on outreach programs that would help the students to serve the world well with innovations and wisdom across the broad range of humanity’s challenges in the globalised era.

    OBJECTIVES:

    • To achieve excellence in Teaching, Training and Research in the areas of Commerce, Social Sciences and Humanities
    • To provide commercial input to the students to enable them to understand the complexities of modern industrial society and to deal with social issues
    • To promote multidisciplinary research through applied areas of Commerce and Social Sciences for enhancing productivity and efficiency of resource utilization
    • To provide good results by continuous monitoring, assessing and counselling of students
    • To facilitate academic progress of students by encouraging them to actively participate in internship, conferences, seminars, workshops etc.

    Events Conducted

    Inaugural function of “Hands on Training on Tally with GST”

    Hands on Training on Tally with GST were inaugurated on 23rd March 2023 by Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences and Humanities in association with M/s.John Moris & Co, Chartered Accountants, Chennai. More than 100 students from our department have attended the event.


    The function was begined by Dr. K. Soundarapandiyan, Head-Department of Commerce, introduced our chief guest for the day, CA. A. John Moris, Managing Partner, M/s.John Mories & Co, Chartered Accountants, Chennai and their Team. He also highlighted upon the importance of Tally with GST in the current business era. In continuation with that Prof. D. Ayub Khan Dawood, Dean, School of Social Science & Humanities gave the felicita.


    National Level Workshop on “Participatory Teaching Approach- A Case Method of Teaching”

    One day National Level workshop on “Participatory Teaching Approach- A Case Method of Teaching” was organized on 25th January 2023 by Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences and Humanities. More than 40 participants from various universities and colleges attended the Workshop.

    The workshop was begin by our Professor and Dean, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood he stated the importance of case study in relation with teaching methodology in today’s era of education system. Dr.K.Soundarapandiyan, Head-Department of Commerce, introduced our chief guests for the day, Dr.T.PraveenKumar, Assistant Professor, School of Business and Management, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore and Dr.V.Hemanthkumar, Professor in School of Commerce and Management,Presidency University, Bangalore.

    MY CLASSROOM:   In my clasroom there is wide space to sit all tha students comfortably.  All the classrooms are not same as one some will be differ from others. In my classroom there is a projector with screen to develop our knowledge by seeing and learning the ppt in the screen. The classroom are look like better place to study and enjoy in the college.  There are many fans in the classroom so it will not be get sweat during the class hours. And there also provided a window that can be relax by seeing the natureg and enjoying the nature.  My classroom is more spacious and there will be to sit upto 60 members in a class. There will be number of benches in my class. Vertically there will be 5 rows of benches and horizontally there will be 6 to 7 benches available in a row.  In a single bench there will able to sit 2 members in a bench and there is one green board which will be more spacious of the screen of projector. These are the facilities available in my classroom.

     MY DEPARTMENT (COMMERCE) My department was commerce department in this department there are many courses available in our Crescent University.  There are 8 courses available in commerce department they are B.Com(general),B. Com (Accounts and Finance), B. Com(professional accounting), B. Com(Hons),B. Com (Hons)  ACCS, B. BA(Financial services), B. BA (financial services) CIMA, B. BA( enterpreneurship and Family Business), B. BA ( General)are the several courses in commerce department.  Among the under graduate there is also a post graduate in commerce department they are M. Com and MBA.
